#Feline Friday--Karen Rose Smith's #Cats This Week

Each week is an interesting cat week.  Here are some of the photos and antics from the past seven days.

Miss Paddington has "come up" in the world this week.  She has taken to exploring higher places--on top of the kitchen door and on top of the refrigerator! Thank goodness we were around to rescue her from her escapades.

London and Zoie Joy wait in the living room each evening until my husband and I join them with the laser light for a session of who can catch the red dot. And, of course, Paddy is ready to join in the fun too!

Paddy has also begun to "enjoy" big cat things. She nibbles at the bowl of cat grass next to the water fountain and loves catnip. She knows exactly where the catnip is stored and one night she jumped up on the closet shelf and escaped with the whole bag of catnip. A chase ensued throughout the house with my husband in pursuit of the wayward feline and the open bag of catnip which left a trail through the living room, kitchen and into my office!

Sunnybud makes his morning and nightly visits for food and a good massage, then takes leave again. But now he often settles in the yard for a bath or a nap. Zoie and Paddy like to sit at the window to watch him snoozing.

Halo has become much more affectionate, often asking for attention. She spends most of the afternoon and evening napping on the bed and is slowly inching up from her napping spots at our feet to within arms reach so we can pet her.

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Karen Rose Smith is an only child who delved into books at an early age. She learned about kindred spirits from Anne of Green Gables, solved mysteries with Nancy Drew and wished she could have been the rider on The Black Stallion. Yet even though she escaped often into story worlds, she had many aunts, uncles and cousins around her on weekends. Her sense of family and relationships began there. Maybe that's why families are a strong theme in her novels, whether mysteries or romances. Her 87th novel will be released in 2015.

Readers often ask her about her pastimes. She has herb, flowers and vegetable gardens that help her relax. In the winter, she cooks rather than gardens. And year round she spends most of her time with her husband, as well as her four rescued cats who are her constant companions. They chase rainbows from sun catchers, reminding her life isn't all about work, awards and bestseller lists. Everyone needs that rainbow to chase.

Karen looks forward to interacting with readers. They can find her at the links below.
