What Can A Cover Reveal? GILT BY ASSOCIATION by Karen Rose Smith--#cozy #mystery

What can a cover reveal?

I believe the artist who designed the cover for GILT BY ASSOCIATION did a perfect rendering of the book!  So lets look at what it reveals about this murder mystery with a touch of romance.

Can you tell it has a Valentine's Day theme?  Those hearts on the mantle and roses on the floor depict the holiday accoutrements. However, there is more than a holiday theme in this Caprice De Luca novel.  Her profession as home stager has given her a client she has known all her life--Louise Downing.  Louise and her husband Chet have a "fairytale" marriage. At least that's what everyone believes.  When Louise hired Caprice--Caprice's mom and Louise are good friends--together they chose a HEARTS And FLOWERS theme for the house staging since Louise's mansion is already full of lace and chintz, hearts (like the throw pillows) and GILT.

It's easy to see that this Pennsylvania set mystery is having a rough winter by the snow outside the window and the fire in the fireplace.

Finally the other perfect element is the kitten on the arm of the chair.  In this book, Caprice rescues a gray tabby kitten that she names...Valentine.  This kitten is based on my experience rescuing a tiny gray tabby who we named London for its misty grey weather.  Our London is fourteen now and the senior cat with three younger rescues in the household.  ( I post about them a lot on my Facebook page, Twitter, and in my newsletter.)

I'll be having a Facebook Launch Party for GILT on Feb. 3 from 7-10 pm EST.  I'll be giving away a prize every 15 minutes and I hope we'll have hearts and hearts-full of fun!

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Karen Rose Smith is an only child who delved into books at an early age. She learned about kindred spirits from Anne of Green Gables, solved mysteries with Nancy Drew and wished she could have been the rider on The Black Stallion. Yet even though she escaped often into story worlds, she had many aunts, uncles and cousins around her on weekends. Her sense of family and relationships began there. Maybe that's why families are a strong theme in her novels, whether mysteries or romances. Her 87th novel will be released in 2015.

Readers often ask her about her pastimes. She has herb, flowers and vegetable gardens that help her relax. In the winter, she cooks rather than gardens. And year round she spends most of her time with her husband, as well as her four rescued cats who are her constant companions. They chase rainbows from sun catchers, reminding her life isn't all about work, awards and bestseller lists. Everyone needs that rainbow to chase.

Karen looks forward to interacting with readers. They can find her at the links below.
