Miss Paddington was up to her usual antics this week. She seemed to have her mind set on higher places, whether it be just napping on the highest shelf of the floor-to-ceiling cat condo or observing meal preparations from the top of the refrigerator. She was also found in front of the flat screen TV which happens to be on the top of a chest of drawers and on the wall shelf over the desk in my office. Usually she can execute her own escape plan, but occasionally needs some "people" intervention for a safe landing.
Paddy takes an afternoon snooze on the upper shelf of the cat condo. |
Paddy seems to agree that I need a vacation as she watches the flat screen TV. |
Paddy ponders how to disembark from her shelf climbing adventure. |
Paddy tries to figure out an alternative entrance to the scratching house so she can "bother" Zoie. This week she discovered that the window is actually open and she can paw at Zoie through it. |
Even Paddy got into the sleepy mode this week. She still enjoys the circular bin of her kitten condo that she used to share with Tia and Mason. It's hard to believe they all fit in that small circle at one time! Sunnybud is usually waiting in the patio sunroom every morning. Some mornings, he stays for an extended nap after I feed him and give him his daily massage.
And, of course, Halo sleeps through it all! |

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Karen Rose Smith is an only child who delved into books at an early age. She learned about kindred spirits from Anne of Green Gables, solved mysteries with Nancy Drew and wished she could have been the rider on The Black Stallion. Yet even though she escaped often into story worlds, she had many aunts, uncles and cousins around her on weekends. Her sense of family and relationships began there. Maybe that's why families are a strong theme in her novels, whether mysteries or romances. Her 87th novel will be released in 2015.
Readers often ask her about her pastimes. She has herb, flowers and vegetable gardens that help her relax. In the winter, she cooks rather than gardens. And year round she spends most of her time with her husband, as well as her four rescued cats who are her constant companions. They chase rainbows from sun catchers, reminding her life isn't all about work, awards and bestseller lists. Everyone needs that rainbow to chase.
Karen looks forward to interacting with readers. They can find her at the links below.

Paddy's "twin" Luna likes the high spots too, although she refuses to use the ones I put up especially for her, of course. She loves the top of the fridge, and a high armoire in the living room. Plus, of course, strolling across the kitchen counter.
Thank you, Karen! I always look forward to your photos and hearing what the kitties have been up to.
What cuties! I love checking in to what your kitties have been up to!
I always enjoy reading your stories - especially those about your furbabies!! Being the owner of 2 cats myself, I can totally relate to a lot of what you relate. In my case, I've had them since the moment they were born, since their Mother, Bailey, gave birth to one of them right at my feet!! Mine are a joy to my Husband and I, though at times we come close to some hair-raising moments!! lol
