How Did You Meet Your Significant Other? and #Lenox #Cat #Giveaway

How Did You Meet Your Significant Other?  To enter this giveaway for a Lenox 4 1/2 inch "Purrfect For Me" Cat figurine, in the comments below please share with me how you met your significant other!

I'm a romance writer and even my mysteries have a touch of romance.  I've been married for 42 years and believe in long lasting love.  My husband and I met at college.  We'd attended a retreat given by one of the clubs on campus.  We'd met briefly before that weekend, but that weekend we really talked and from there a friendship and romance took off.  Valentine's Day is a favorite holiday and we always celebrate it.

This giveaway is open until midnight February 7, 2014 EST.   That gives us lots of time to collect and read each others' stories of meeting our significant others.

Only US and Canadian entries please.  Also, you must leave your email address so I can contact you if you win.  If you want to message it to me on Facebook or email me at karen@karenrosesmith.com, that's okay, too.

Good luck and have a great Valentine's Day.

Best,
Karen

I met my husband ice skating. You could say that I bowled him over. I was taking lessons and I thought I was doing really well. I was skating by myself. I took a corner and lost my footing. I sailed over the ice taking down everyone who was in my path. That was how I met Bob when he went down with me. He helped me up and we started talking. We married four months later. It will be 50 years in July of 2014.

Two of my cousins were friends and classmates of my husband. They introduced us on a blind date when I was visiting their state (NOT PA)!

We were classmates in his. I went to classmate dinner, met him, two days went to our classmates Sting Rays show at San Carlos, he was there, we danced and rest is history. Married two years this June...not bad for in our sixties!

I met my husband because of a drug bust. An undercover sting operation at MCLSBPac Barstow, CA ended in the arrest of dozens of MPs. I was a young MP stationed at El Toro Marine Base and Jim was stationed in Okinawa; as a result of the bust we both received orders to Barstow. This cute young SGT was walking out of PMO as I was walking in, he tripped and fell into my heart. We married five months later, it will be 38 years in February of 2014.

I met my husband at a party. It was in the middle of January and we both looked like we wanted to start fresh for the New Year. It worked as we are married over thirty years.

In my first job out of college, I commuted into the city by bus. At one point, I moved to a new apartment that changed the bus and timetable for my daily sojourn. On the afternoon of my first day on the new bus, I found a seat on the bus next to a young fellow reading the newspaper. He started up a chatty conversation (no one talks to anyone on the bus, so this was initially awkward). I was polite but not overly friendly. When I got up at my stop to leave, he got up to leave as well. Turns out he lived next door to my new apartment. Down the road when we decided to get married, we toyed seriously with the idea of having the ceremony on the bus, performed by the driver (like the captain of a ship), and having guest get on and off at various stops. That never happened, but we considered it. Both our kids now reside in NYC and commute to their jobs on public transportation. Maybe….

My husband and I went to the same school, but never met until after we graduated. We dated six months before we got married. We have been marred for 52 years.

I can say my fair-tale meeting could be in a church setting or meeting at a park setting enjoying the day. I can imagine us to meet in an unusual way that can be attracted to my heart and not according my physical appearance. We will talking about the things in the bible and about the Lord. He would come to me and start to talk to me in person.

I met my husband on October 24th 2004 at my best friends sister house during a Tennessee/Alabama football party. I was told that eddie and Jennifer were there so I didn't think nothing about it and later that night I was told eddie wanted to meet me and I said im watching the football game I cant go out there lol. I didn't wanna meet him because I thought eddie and Jennifer were married but they're brother and sister. :) so I gave him my number and about 3 months later we were officially together

I met my husband when we were both working at NASA. My Mom also worked there in the same building my future husband worked. I would walk to her building and she and I would get a taxi to the bus stop to go home. He saw me and asked his secretary if she could get my phone number. She teased him and said he would have to ask my Mom for it. Finally, he did call and we went out. I fell in love with this guy right away and knew he was the one for me. We just celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. I'm here to say I love my husband!

I met him in high school. I was almost 16 and he was almost 18. He was the new kid in class - a world traveler (air force brat lol) and I had never left my hometown. We're total opposites lol. He's been my first (and last) everything. We'll be married 46 years this June.

I met my now husband at a birthday party for me. It was kind of a fix up from a mutual friend. After we were married, we found we had met at a science fiction event in our teens, so that was pretty funny! I believe in coincidence and fate and faith. juleejadams(at)gmail(dot)com
